Gatlinburg Trip

This is going to be more of a photo dump than an actual description of our vacation so prepare yourself. We spent a week in Gatlinburg with our friends who own a time share there. We had a great time and Hubs loves the mountains. I don't think I could pick between the beach or the mountains although I do really hate sand...

Anyway Sunday we headed to the outlet mall that is about 20 minutes away.  I bought lots of clothes including a lot of Christmas gifts.

Monday we visited Cades Cove and loved it. It's a 11 mile loop with multiple historic sites to stop at and all the sites are less than 1/2 mile from the road so getting to them was very kid friendly. We saw tons of wildlife including a momma bear and her 2 cubs.

Momma bear and her cubs.

I wasn't actually this close..I zoomed in a lot.

This cabin was built in 1840 and the farmhouse we are looking at buying was built in 1865. Clearly things came a long way in 25 years or the people who built the farmhouse were very wealthy. It's about 5 times the size of this cabin...

Sun was trying to peek out.

Corn Mill.

Tuesday we decided to hike up to Laurel Falls. We were told it was stroller friendly and a relatively easy hike. I wish I could go back and punch that person in the face. The path was paved, but it was by no means smooth and stroller friendly....especially a double stroller. The views were amazing, but yea that 1.5 mile uphill hike with a 60lb stroller wasn't pleasant not to mention the insane drop off along the entire path.

I wouldn't call this stroller friendly....

You can see just how bumpy the path is.

Stay tuned for Part II.
