Baylor's Birth Story

We had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am again and my C-section was supposed to start at 7;30 am. Which didn't really happen because they couldn't get an IV line on me. Took 3 nurses and 4 different attempts to get one. Basically the entire time they were trying I was vomiting bile since I hadn't eaten since the night before.

I don't think I got into the OR until about 7:40ish and then they still had to put in my spinal block, which didn't take long. Once I was covered up with warm blankets and they had the curtain up my mom and Robby were allowed to come in and things got started. My doctor said Baylor had herself wedge up at the top of my uterus. Which is exactly how she popped my rib out of place.
Welcome to the World!!!

Getting weighed.
She was born at 8:05 am on Wednesday January 21st, 2015. She weighed 8 lbs 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. After I was stitched up and transitioned on to my regular bed. They wheeled me to my room doing skin to skin with Baylor.

Once we were back in my room I immediately nursed Baylor since her blood sugar(42) was a little low at birth. We did end up have to supplement with about 15ml of formula because her blood sugar wasn't rising fast enough after I had nursed her a few times. Also I was still puking during this whole time period of getting cleaned up and trying to nurse Baylor.  We let the kids meet her first although I don't think they were super impressed. We did get to watch Baylor get her first bath this time which was nice.

The kids got doodle pads from Baylor as gifts.

38 Weeks

Can't believe we only have 1 more week until she is here. I had my last doctors appointment this week before next Wednesday. I have gained 12 lbs total which is what I gained with Carson. I still expect Baylor to be a bigger baby for some reason. I just feel like she will be closer in size to Hendrix since my stomach is so huge this time around. Let the craziness begin of 3 kids under 4!!!

Baylor's Owl Mobile

Somehow Carson managed to destroy the little animals that were attached to our mobile that we originally bought for Hendrix. So I decided to make new ones. I found this pattern on pinterest. I mainly picked it because I already had all the materials to make the owls so they were essentially free and the owls matched the girls bird bedding perfectly.

I'm not going to re-type all the directions because most of them are pretty clear. I did take more pictures to help explain things though. The only thing I changed was I glued buttons on for eyes instead of using white felt. Love me some buttons!!! Also I used jute instead of ribbon because I didn't have any small ribbon I was in love with.
Feet and beaks

All the parts to complete one Owl.

Ombre feathers all glued together.

Complete top.

All four owls.

Wings and feet sewed on.

Placing the full base owl on top of the bottom part.
Then you add the detailed top to make a triple layered owl.

Leave a opening at the bottom to stuff the owl when sewing the
three layers together.

All three layers sewed together with an opening at the bottom to stuff.

Stuffing the owl.

After sewing the opening closed.

All four completed owls.

Here's a crappy picture of them actually hanging on the mobile. It's super cloudy today so I didn't have very good lighting. I think I am going to shorten the strings a little bit, but they will do for now.
